About Me
Tom Houseman is an emerging writer, lyricist, and librettist from Chicago. He earned a Masters of Public Policy from the University of Chicago, and was the Policy Director for the non-profit Clergy for a New Drug Policy. He has studied writing at Bard College and Story Studio in Chicago, taking classes with authors and playwrights including Rebecca Makkai and Caridad Svich . His short story "Roll for Initiative" was published in White Wall Review and his songs have been performed by Underscore Theater Company as part of the Tiny Storefront Theater Concert series.
This fall, Tom will be attending Columbia College in Chicago to pursue his MFA in Creative Writing. He is currently editing his novel, a Girl Called Faith, for which he will begin to seek representation by the end of the summer. A Girl Called Faith is the story of Faith, an Evangelical talk-circuit celebrity, who has to unearth repressed memories in order to discover the truth behind her childhood kidnapping and miraculous escape. A Girl Called Faith was recently long-listed for the First Pages Prize.
